FridgeXpress invites fleets to trial new city EVs
The addition of Goupil G4 and Alke ATX models meets growing demand for emission-free deliveries in congested urban areas.
Refrigerated vehicle hire firm FridgeXpress has expanded its fleet with a new EV option designed for city streets.
The electric Goupil G4 (pictured) and Alke ATX will serve customers who need to deliver perishable goods in busy urban areas or confined spaces, such as retail parks, shopping centres, holiday parks and festivals.
These are the smallest vehicles to join the FridgeXpress fleet, which has switched 10% of its overall short and long-term hire fleet to EVs, supported by parent company Northgate’s group-wide Drive to Zero initiative, which aims to help customers transition away from diesel ahead of a government ban on new fossil-fuelled vehicles.
Adam Naylor, managing director of FridgeXpress, said: “We are inviting fleets to trial these innovative new vehicles in real world operating conditions.”
Northgate Vehicle Hire, part of Redde Northgate, acquired FridgeXpress for an undisclosed amount in 2023.
Founded in 2008, FridgeXpress has more than 600 chilled and freezer vans and trailers.
